I was really excited to not only return to Igloofest for the sixth year straight, but to bring three friends along who haven’t attended. Here’s a recap of my time at the 2019 festival, including highlights, an interview, and a quick video. (Also, with the exception of a previous pricing structure and lineup, here is why you need to attend yourself!)
First off, I chose January 25 to see one of my all-time favorite acts, Above & Beyond. I’ve seen them in nightclubs and concert venues, but never in an atmosphere like Igloofest. With over 10,000 smiling people dancing together, this night sold out far in advance! I don’t always plan my visit around a particular artist though, as I’ve always been satisfied no matter who is playing — I trust the team 100%! Music aside, the experiences created throughout the grounds always leave me impressed. In addition to games, food trucks, a photobooth (peep the featured image above), and marshmallow roasting, there was an area with dyers and a booth with heating lamps available for use… they seriously think of EVERYTHING. Something else cool that I saw for the first time last year was Off-Igloo, a daytime version of the festival that was free and open to the public (this year it was on Saturday 1/26 from 2-7pm). I love this!
It’s always exciting to meet different team members every year. This time, I was excited to catch up with the new talent buyer, Lucas, and have a conversation about his work history with events, the hardest part about booking talent, and what makes a good party. Read it here!
