Governors Ball Returns with 2017 Lineup Announcement
Governors Ball, held each year on Randall’s Island Park in New York City, has become the premier music festival of the east coast. With a lineup featuring all genres, the festival has become successful due to its ability to bring in just about anyone – rap fans to punk rockers, young teens to retirees.
The year, the producers of Governors Ball did not disappoint. Bringing acts like Chance the Rapper, Lorde, and Tool was no accident; Jordan Wolowitz, who books the acts, says that he tries to “approach book Gov Ball from a music fan’s perspective”, trying to book acts that fans wouldn’t want to miss. And these are acts that haven’t played New York City in a long time or have had a lot of growth since they have played. The return of acts like Tool and Lorde are sure to garner a lot of fans, and the inclusion of acts that are internationally-based, like Phoenix, will be sure to bring in ex-pats who wouldn’t otherwise be interested.
Day 1, Friday, June 2nd, brings Chance the Rapper, Lorde, and Flume to the stage. Day 2, Saturday, June 3rd will bring Phoenix, Childish Gambino, and Wu-Tang Clan out. And the festival will close on June 4th with Tool, Cage the Elephant, and Gryffin).
